Bible Text: Colossians 1:13-14 |

Redemption is the restoration of something that was lost through the payment of a price.  The Bible details the qualifications of a redeemer.  Jesus Christ is the only fully qualified redeemer.

Three important aspects of redemption from sin:

Christians are bought from the law

  • sin indebts us to the law by an amount we can never pay
  • the law is perfect, flawless, and immutable
  • the law is an impossible standard to achieve

Christians are bought with Jesus's blood as the currency

  • His blood is the only acceptable currency
  • His blood satisfies God's justice and wrath

Christians are bought before the term

  • the deal is only available while we are still alive
