Salvation

Are you heaven-bound?

If you died tonight, where would you go? Some may say you cannot know that for sure. The truth is far different. The Bible clearly says you can know you have eternal life!

1 John 5:13, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life”

You may ask, “How can I know that I have eternal life?” That is the most important question you could ever ask! First, you must accept that you are a sinner.

Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”

Next, you must realize that because you have sinned, you have earned death (physical and spiritual)

Romans 6:23a, “For the wages of sin is death

Revelation 20:14, “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”

Because God is just, someone must pay the price of sin. That is why Jesus (God in the flesh) came to earth. He lived a sinless life; died for your sins; and rose from dead-defeating death. Simply put, Jesus paid for your sin so you would not have to.

Romans 5:6, “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.”

Also, you must realize you cannot do anything to save yourself. Good deeds, church membership, and religious ceremonies are powerless to take away sin.

Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

This leads us back to the original question. How do you get eternal life? The answer is simple. You must believe with all your heart that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh and He rose from the dead. Then in prayer, trusting ONLY in the LORD, call upon Jesus to save you. If you have done that you have God’s promise you are saved and have a home in heaven.

Romans 10:9-13, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
